ABSTRACT

This research analyzes the pledge of the family property of the guarantor of a residential property rental contract from the process of constitutionalization of Civil Law in the scenario generated by the pandemic caused by the new coronavirus. In order to study the possibilities that the Brazilian legal system provides to give a new interpretation to the protection of the guarantor's right to housing in the light of the provisions contained in Law 14.010 of 2020, which deals with the Emergency and Transitional Legal Regime of Private Law legal relations (RJET) in the coronavirus pandemic period. This knowledge was operationalized through a systematic review of the literature of jurisprudential and legislative research. A hermeneutic triangulation between the right to housing, human dignity and equality was carried out in order to interpret the institutions of private law in the context of the process of constitutionalization of Civil Law. A preliminary result is that in times of exception it is necessary to interpret the law with a view to conferring protection and preservation of constitutionally enshrined fundamental rights.

ABSTRACT

Introduction: The rapid global spread of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has made COVID-19 one of the biggest pandemics of all time, with several devastating public health challenges. In this study, we investigated the knowledge towards COVID-19 best practices in the north of Portugal. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was performed with a convenience sample of the population of northern Portugal to assess their knowledge about COVID-19, SARS-CoV-2 and measures to prevent and mitigate pandemics. An online validated questionnaire was completed by 411 participants, from September to October 2020. Results: The overall correct knowledge was 81.3%, which indicates a good knowledge by the northern Portuguese respondents about COVID-19. The correct answer score differed considerably between men and women, being significantly higher among the latter (12.28 +/- 1.22;p = 0.011). Moreover, the highest knowledge was observed in participants who attended high school or above (12.27 +/- 1.21;p < 0.000). Conclusion: This study contributes to the analysis of COVID-19 knowledge by the northern Portuguese population, emphasizes the crucial role of health education in the control and mitigation of the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides field-based evidence to prevent the next pandemic event.

ABSTRACT

Objective: to translate and transculturally adapt the Risk assessment and management of exposure of health care workers in the context of COVID-19 questionnaire. Method: this is a methodological study. The translation, back-translation, synthesis, evaluation by experts committee and pre-test stages were followed. The participants were invited by electronic means and answered an online questionnaire. The data were collected between June and September 2020. Content validation by the experts committee was verified using the Content Validity Index. The pre-test participants assessed the instrument’s applicability by means of the “Assessment of Instruments’ Feasibility” questionnaire. Results: the study participants were four translators, eight evaluators in the experts committee and 35 professionals who answered the pre-test. The changes suggested by the experts committee were accepted and consensus was reached in two evaluation rounds, obtaining a content validity index higher than 0.80 for all items of the instrument. The pre-test version presented good applicability and satisfactory reliability (0.76). Conclusion: the instrument was adapted for use in Brazil, which will allow international comparison of the results and using the data obtained for assessment and decision-making in relation to workers’ health. In addition to that, its use may be expanded to assess other situations of health professionals’ exposure to the risk of contamination by infectious agents. © 2021, Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina.
